We had a great day at Geauga Lakes’s Wildwater Kingdom!
I started out trying to capture the fun on my small point and shoot camera (so glad I left my big camera at home) but soon handed it off so that I could get in on the action. It didn’t take long before it ended up securely locked in the locker we rented with the rest of our dry things. We all wanted to participate in the soaking wet good time!
I was afraid that my kids wouldn’t be big enough to fully enjoy a waterpark but I was wrong. Geauga Lakes’s Wildwater Kingdom was colorful, clean, and perfect for a day of family fun. We actually spent most of our day at Splash Landing which is a huge playland of water slides, bridges, towers, and a billion ways to get completely drenched. There was no chance of coming out of that place with even a dry spot. We had 4 adults, 1 teenager, a 4 year old and a 3 year old…we were all laughing and dripping wet in no time. Noah was in his element. He tried every slide and could barely contain himself as he tried all the water shooting gadgets. And if we weren’t wet enough, every few minutes a giant bucket would dump 1,000 gallons of water over the whole thing.
It didn’t take long to work up an appetite so we decided to sample some park food. Our shaded table was filled with pizza, hot dogs, cheese sticks, fries, soda, lemonade and my choice- the loaded park fries. Noah and Chloe had their own little picnic table which they really liked.
As we were having lunch we saw Snoopy and Charlie Brown and the kids just had to meet them.
Next we headed for Riptide Run to relax on some tubes and ride the lazy river. The little ones had to wear lifejackets and they were provided for them at the start of the attraction. We all loved this one and the water falls and dumping buckets were a fun addition. We even had to spend some time manning the dumping buckets ourselves on the way out targeting the most unsuspecting and driest victims.
The huge colorful waterslides at Thunder Falls looked like loads of fun but look was all we did when it came to all the big slides. We wanted to spend the day together and that meant sticking with the littlest members of our group. I have to admit though,Liquid Lightning looked like a total blast. I’ve never seen anything like it! It was a giant 60-foot-tall, 253-foot-long funnel laying on its side.
After taking a look at the “big rides”, we made our way over to Tidal Wave Bay. The kids loved playing in the rolling waves and shooting geysers. Half of our group ventured out into the deeper area and the other half splashed around in the shallow end. Fun was had by all. It was here that I really noticed the dilligence of the lifeguards on duty. There were 8 of them keeping careful watch over the tidal pool.
The lifeguards at Geauga Lake were the best I’ve ever seen. They were dilligent, attentive, and extremely aware of their surroundings. I was definately impressed. On the very first water slide the kids went down, Chloe was pretty nervous. The lifeguard came over, took her hand, and that was all she needed to get her on her way. As a mother, it was a great reassurance that my children were being watched so carefully by trained professionals that took their job very seriously.
We ended our day back at Splash Landing because Noah would have lived there if he could have. We were all as thoroughly soaked and wrinkled as possible. It was a completely wet and fun-filled experience. The kids were begging to come back before we even got out to the car and they were asleep by the time we left the the parking lot. What a fantastic way to spend one of our last hot summer days!
